This is the continuous
part of my story after several tragedies happened together at the same time (Adversity,
You Can Overcome Them, 2014). It is another tough journey, but it really put my
perseverance and determinations to great test. By the strokes of Providence, miracles
still can exist in the darkest occasion of the life. Surviving for eight months
without having salary indeed needs a strong and determined spirit to overcome
the problems.
Everything was started on 1st April 2014. Before
the closing down of the factory due to poor financial power, my father was able
to sell all the properties and left stocks to the next businessperson. But it
took about nine months to settle such issue. However, it was the starting point
for us without having any financial support and salary to past through these
periods. The total monthly of family expenditure is around RM15, 000.
After clearing all the
debts and losses, we still manage to cooperate and start a mini market even
though the process is tough and complicated. At the beginning, there was no
sale for these eight months. We had to bear through it just to build
reputation, providing the best service and products to the others. Advertising and
promotions seemed not to function so well during that period. Entering into
deserted village and neighbourhoods to provide free services had to be carried
out to engage with the people. Finally, it worked for some results.
For me, I have to rely
on passive income only to survive. I am really thankful that I have the
opportunities to start some tuition classes, even though the income is not much.
Compared to before, it is even more challenging than I was being employed. The
income is inconsistent but somehow or rather God has opened a new way and
strengths for me to overcome all the difficulties. Remember, ‘when there is a
will, there is a way’.
In a silent night, I
recalled back to the past painful memories. Many questions played in my mind
that why my family and I are chosen to experience the trials and tribulations
in life, the questions that I don’t have the answers. However, all the
experiences lead me to be freelance writer in different skills. For instance, proofreading,
editing, copywriting, creative writing and business writing, trilingual
translator, online marketer, risk financial analysts and even English tutor. By
God’s grace, I also have even started own business, Vivid Beauty when I am
still a university student.
In short, the crisis has
taken me around three years and a month to walk through it. On the contrary,
all the difficulties lead me to be more mature when walking in the silhouette. When God solves your problems, you have
faith in His abilities; when He doesn’t solve your problems, He has faith in
your abilities. As the saying goes, ‘every
cloud has silver lining’. The darkest time has launched to the end. But it
doesn’t mean that there is no any challenge in life after that. The next battle
is going to start soon, GST and inflation rate of the nation in Malaysia.
Vivid Beauty is located at No: A33, Tingkat Bawah, Taman Bandar Baru Mergong Susuran B, 05150 Alor Setar, Kedah, Darul Aman, Malaysia. Ensson Supermarket is the business partner of Vivid Beauty Trading. We are able to own our shops today, starting everything from nothing. It is not easy but perseverances and determinations are the keys of success to overcome all the trials and tribulations.
Additional:
This article was written when I heard that my
roommate, Adrian Lim’s father was hospitalized due to strokes. That was his
mother’s birthday too. It triggers my mind that life is not always smooth and
full of challenges in the journey of life from time to time. I believe that God
will always take care them, even when we are not around. Just submit everything
to Him, He will take care your loved ones when you are not with them.
